How Did I Get Ringworm ?

Telling if you have ringworm is not a big deal. People who have never been attacked by ringworm may not understand how bad the whole thing feels. The itching skin and the loss of hair, are just some of the discomforts that come with it.

So, telling if you have a ringworm is not had at all.

But before you start to wonder whether or not you have ringworm, you must first know what it is. The first thing that you should not let happen to you is to get confused about them. Ringworm is a not worm per se. In fact, it is not even an animal. The name comes from the ring-shaped patches that they form from the rashes that appear on the skin of an infected person.

These rings, which are shaped like coins, usually have edges that are above the skin.

How you are infected.

Many people believe that ringworm comes to people who are dirty and unhygienic. Although unhygienic conditions give ringworm good conditions to thrive in, this belief is not entirely true. For you to be infected with ringworm, you must be exposed to an infected animal or an infected person. When talking of exposure, I don't necessarily mean direct physical contact. No. I am talking about coming into contact with personal items such as clothing, combs, beddings and so forth. Anything that provides the fungus with a way of landing on you will cause you to be infected.

The rashes.

Once you have been exposed to the fungus, it will take close to 10 days for the rashes to start showing on your skin. A few rashes will appear. After a few days, the rashes will take up the ring-like shape. You will then know that ringworm have infected you and that you should fight back immediately.

The spread.

Once the fungus settles on your body, you normally spread them all over your body. Obviously, you do not do this deliberately.

So, how do you do it?

Simple.

Since the infected area is usually itchy, you will feel like scratching the affected part. You will agree with me that you do not disinfect your hands after this. What happens is that you will touch other parts of your body that are not infected.

The result?

Spreading the fungi all over your body like wild fire.

Again, coming in contact with the clothing of infected persons will cause you to get ringworm. In the same way, when uninfected part of you skin comes in contact with your blanket or cloth that has touched the infected part, the uninfected part will get the fungus. This means that if ringworm remain untreated for long, the rashes will keep on spreading all over the body.

Way forward.

Once you have realized that you have ringworm, you need to be very fast in dealing with them.

The best way to start the treatment is to use antifungal cream. They don't smell so nice but you have to do with them. Apply the cream on the affected areas and areas close to the rashes. Do this as per the physician's instruction.

After you have started applying the cream, you must keep very high standards of cleanliness. Ensure that you bathe everyday and that you only wear clean clothes. In case the scalp has also bee attacked, it makes sense to cut your hair so that you can deal with the fungus that is on your scalp.

Summary.

Overall, you need to understand that there is so much information that you need to know about ringworm and how to get rid of them. This info can only fit in a complete book and not this article. However, the following points are important to note:

" Ringworm is not a worm. It is a fungus.

" Ringworm usually spread to you if you are exposed to someone or an animal that has been infected by fungus.

" The best way to deal with ringworm is to be consistent and fast.

" Care must always be taken to ensure that you have adequate hygiene during the whole process of getting rid of ringworm. This will prevent the ringworm from spreading rapidly all over your body and from spreading to other people that live around you.
