Editorial: Tickets Fore Charity was a great success
A news story appearing earlier this month in the Banner-Herald under the headline "Tourney tickets pay off for nonprofits" outlined the amazing success of the Tickets Fore Charity program associated with the recent Stadion Athens Classic at UGA, a stop on the Professional Golfers' Association's Nationwide Tour hosted at the University of Georgia Golf Course with title sponsorship by Watkinsville-based Stadion Money Management.

While the success of the Tickets Fore Charity initiative, sponsored by St. Mary's Health Care System of Athens, certainly was newsworthy, the program also is more than deserving of mention on the editorial page, where it can be given its due praise.
Tickets Fore Charity, a technique used at PGA events around the country, allowed nonprofit organizations that sold tickets to keep 100 percent of the proceeds. People who ordered their tickets online could choose which of the participating nonprofits would get their money.
In connection with the Stadion Athens Classic, Tickets Fore Charity brought in tens of thousands of dollars, with donations going to groups including the American Cancer Society Relay for Life; The Ark United Ministry Outreach Center; Athens Canine Rescue; Athens-Oconee Court-Appointed Specials Advocates Program; Athens Regional Foundation Inc.; Extra Special People Inc.: Georgia Junior Golf Foundation; Mercy Health Center; and Prevent Child Abuse Athens Inc., to name just a few.
